Job Summary:

The Estimator in a printing press plays a critical role in determining the costs associated with printing projects. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of the printing process and materials. The estimator will collaborate with sales, production, and vendors to provide accurate and timely quotes to clients.

Responsibilities:

• Analyse project specifications and requirements to prepare accurate estimates for printing jobs, including materials, labor, and overhead costs.
• Generate detailed and competitive quotes for clients, ensuring all aspects of the job are covered.
• Collaborate with suppliers to obtain pricing for materials and services needed for projects.
• Work closely with the production team to understand capabilities and constraints, ensuring feasible and realistic estimates.
• Liaise with clients to clarify project details, discuss estimates, and address any questions or concerns.
• Stay informed about industry trends, competitor pricing, and new materials or technologies that could impact estimating practices.
• Maintain accurate records of estimates, pricing history, and any revisions made throughout the quoting process.
• Identify opportunities for improving estimating processes and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Team player with a collaborative mindset.
• Understanding printing processes, materials, and costs associated with various printing methods (offset, digital, large format, etc.).
