Supervising and coordinating the activities of the biomedical engineering department. Ensures that medical equipment is installed, maintained and repaired in compliance with healthcare standards and manufacturer specifications, biomedical asset management, assist in medical equipment budget planning, procurement and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Supervising and coordinating day-to-day biomedical engineering work processes
• Asset Management
• Ensure the safe and effective functioning of all patient care equipment throughout the hospital
• Budget preparation for medical equipment in coordination with the management
• Evaluate the need for new equipment or replacement of existing equipment
• Procurement of Medical Equipment within the approved budget in coordination with the Corporate Purchase Department, providing technical and financial comparisons of various equipment and deciding the optimum choice within the budget and technical requirement.
• Coordinate with vendors for delivery, coordination for any pre-installation work, and coordination of handover and user training, approval of payments for purchased equipment.
• Ensure that the purchased medical equipment and strategies comply with the latest industry practice and safety requirements.
• To manage medical devices for accomplishing high quality patient care, clinical and financial governance, and minimizing risks of adverse events.
• To evaluate the condition and performance of medical devices including device failures and issues, utilization, performance, maintenance, repair and calibration history.
• To execute investment, replacement and disposal plans.
• To maintain device records that have evidence of asset identifier, purchase price, installation date, location, any specific legal requirement and whether that has been met, schedule and details of maintenance and repair.
• Management of service contracts for medical equipment
• To ensure that all contractors or in-house contracts stipulated for medical equipment are carefully observed and executed by sticking to agreed periodic schedule of operation and maintenance program.
• To monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that can show improvements in medical devices management.
• To manage all incidents and risks related to medical equipment safety.
