The Cath Lab Technician is responsible for assisting cardiologists in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures such as angiography, angioplasty, stenting, and pacemaker implantation. The technician ensures proper setup, operation, and maintenance of cath lab equipment and plays a key role in patient safety, sterile technique, and procedural support.
Prepare the cath lab for procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile and ready.
Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures by operating imaging and monitoring equipment.
Monitor and record patient vitals and hemodynamic data during procedures.
Operate fluoroscopy, X-ray machines, and other specialized cath lab equipment.
Maintain strict adherence to aseptic and sterile techniques.
Prepare and position the patient appropriately for procedures.
Assist with vascular access and the administration of contrast media (under supervision).
Document procedural details accurately in patient records.
Perform post-procedure equipment cleaning, restocking, and maintenance checks.
Participate in emergency response protocols such as Code Blue during procedures.
Adhere to radiation safety and infection control protocols.
Support the team during on-call shifts, including nights and weekends if applicable.
