- Plan and supervise all stages of trench excavation, from pre-excavation checks to backfilling and reinstatement.
- Obtain all necessary permits and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) before commencing work.
- Coordinate with stakeholders and manage communication to ensure smooth project execution.
- Conduct thorough site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Oversee the precise marking of trench boundaries and excavation areas.
- Supervise both manual and mechanical excavation processes, ensuring adherence to specified depths and techniques.
- Manage the installation of shoring, bracing, and other support systems to maintain trench stability.
- Ensure the proper use of excavation machinery and tools, including appropriately sized JCB buckets.
- Supervise the laying of ducts (e.g., D54) with correct jointing techniques.
- Oversee the backfilling process in layers, including the placement of warning tape at the correct depth (e.g., 60cm) and compaction to ground level.
- Identify and verify the location of underground utilities such as electricity, water, and gas using detection equipment.
- Execute trial pits at regular intervals (e.g., every 10-15m) to confirm the location of existing underground services.
- Manage and supervise cable pulling operations, including pre-pulling preparations, duct inspection, and the use of pulling equipment.
- Enforce strict adherence to all safety guidelines and procedures on-site.
- Ensure all personnel wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
- Implement and monitor safety measures such as sloping, benching, and regular inspections to prevent accidents.
- Maintain a safe working distance for equipment and materials from the excavation area.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Conduct site inductions and brief crew members on their roles and responsibilities.
- Manage on-site resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure timely submission of material requests.
- Coordinate vehicle and driver bookings through the company portal as required
