The Mechanical Project Engineer will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical systems within infrastructure and district cooling projects. This includes managing chilled water piping networks, underground utilities, valve chambers, and mechanical equipment installations. The role involves close coordination with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely project execution in compliance with technical specifications, local authority standards, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Execution & Site Supervision
- Supervise and manage the execution of mechanical works related to:
- District Cooling Networks (chilled water supply and return lines, valve chambers, energy transfer stations)
- Underground Utilities (sewer, stormwater, firefighting, potable water)
- Monitor day-to-day site activities, ensuring adherence to approved drawings, material specifications, and method statements.
- Coordinate closely with civil and electrical teams to ensure smooth execution of cross-discipline activities.
2. Planning & Scheduling
- Prepare and maintain detailed mechanical execution schedules and align them with the master project schedule.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, and material needs for timely execution of works.
- Track progress and proactively resolve any delays or technical issues.
3. Technical Review & Coordination
- Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, and material submittals for accuracy and compliance.
- Raise and manage RFIs for design discrepancies or clarifications.
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, and subcontractors for technical approvals, inspections, and handovers.
- Ensure compliance with DEWA, TRAKHEES, RTA, DDA, DM, and relevant UAE authority standards.
4. Testing, Commissioning & Quality Control
- Supervise pressure testing, flushing, disinfection, and commissioning of chilled water and utility piping.
- Ensure testing procedures and documentation are conducted as per specifications and standards.
- Address non-conformities and implement corrective actions in coordination with QA/QC and safety teams.
5. Material & Equipment Handling
- Verify and monitor deliveries of pipes (MS, HDPE, GRP), valves, fittings, supports, and mechanical equipment.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and protection of materials and components.
- Liaise with procurement and logistics for timely material availability on site.
6. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate site records including daily progress, material usage, manpower deployment, and inspection logs.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the Project Manager.
- Support preparation of as-built drawings and O&M manuals.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in mechanical infrastructure and district cooling projects in the UAE/GCC.
- Proven experience in chilled water pipe installations, valve chamber works, and utility infrastructure.
- Familiarity with local authority regulations: Dubai Municipality (DM), DEWA, TRAKHEES, RTA, DDA, etc.
- Strong understanding of piping standards and testing procedures.
