- Perform Design and Engineering process facilities within a specified time while adhering to maintenance, safety, and quality standards, consider constructability, economics, and operation into account during Pre-FEED, FEED, or Detailed Design phases.
- Set priorities, organize own work and time to meet objectives, and (as Lead Designer) forecast and plan resource requirements.
- Develop 3D Models and ensure clash free model in coordination with all other disciplines requirements.
- Ensure design deliverables are completed and issued per project specifications, McDermott, and project Level 2 & 3 procedures, and within agreed schedules and budgets.
- Apply knowledge and/or skills to perform complex work.
- Become fully familiar with the Project Scope of Work, specifications, schedule, and inter-discipline requirements, including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issue.
- Identify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications in the Change Management System.
- Develop Plant Design and 3D Modelling, Drawings, and input into Plant Layout Narrative in accordance with the agreed Scope of Work, man-hours, and schedule.
- Assist the Lead Piping Engineer in raising technical queries, preparing the piping estimate and job scope changes
- Monitor and coordinate the design team remotely, if required, and can lead a project in a Multi Office Project Execution Environment (MOPEX).
- Able to identify issues as soon as they arise and follow up with any required corrective action.
- Support and supervision of less-experienced members within the design team.
- Ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with McDermott requirements, Client and Statutory Design Codes, Standards, or Procedures with a particular focus on Health and Safety Policies.
- Take responsibility for the performance and results of a team within the Piping Discipline.
- Support Proposals and Studies from a Piping point of view.
- Exchange ideas and information effectively and can explain difficult concepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view.
- Impact the level of service and the team’s ability to meet quality and timeliness objectives.

- When acting as Lead Designer, in addition:
o Lead the Design Team to complete the tasks within the planned schedule and budget, in accordance with standards, McDermott, and project-specific procedures.
o Act as project-based discipline point of contact in communications and meetings with Project Team, Client, Vendor/Supplier, and/or Subcontractor counterparts.
o Ensure that the inter-discipline aspects of the design and deliverables are addressed.
o Support Lead Piping Engineer in measuring progress and productivity.
o Coordinate all activities within own discipline and interface with other disciplines.
o Ensures effective communications among other disciplines and effective management of change.
o Coordinate 3D Model Reviews and ensure Review comments are closed.
· When acting as Designers Coordinator, in addition:
o Coordinate large Design Team as Designers Coordinator.
o Coordinate project Design interdisciplinary activities to ensure timely and organized distribution of information amongst all Lead Designers.
o Ensure interfaces and deliverables are identified.
o Support the Department Manager with the Designers' appraisals.
o Support the Department Manager with the strategic development of the Designers' Teams and provide guidance on Training and Technical Development of the Designers' Team.
