The Senior Procurement Manager is responsible for leading and managing the procurement operations for a steel fabrication and galvanizing business. This role involves sourcing raw materials, equipment, and services required for Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) and Hot Rolled Structural Steel Fabrication, as well as galvanizing operations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in the steel industry, exceptional negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of supply chain management tailored to steel fabrication and galvanizing factories.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Procurement Planning:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the operational needs of steel fabrication and galvanizing factories.
  • Analyze market trends to anticipate material price fluctuations and mitigate cost risks.

Raw Material Sourcing and Supplier Management:

  • Source high-quality steel (plates, coils, beams, pipes) and consumables required for fabrication and galvanizing.
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers for cost-effectiveness, quality, and reliability.
  • Establish and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure consistent supply and favorable terms.

Contract and Price Negotiation:

  • Negotiate procurement contracts and pricing for materials, machinery, and services.
  • Ensure compliance with terms and conditions while maintaining cost efficiency.

Inventory and Logistics Management:

  • Oversee inventory levels to ensure adequate stock of materials while minimizing holding costs.
  • Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and efficient transportation of goods.

Operational Collaboration:

  • Work closely with engineering, production, and quality control teams to align material specifications with project requirements.
  • Ensure procurement aligns with production schedules to avoid delays.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies in procurement processes.
  • Assess and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions or vendor performance.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) are a plus.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management role within the steel industry.
  • Proven expertise in sourcing for PEB, Hot Rolled Structural Steel Fabrication, and galvanizing operations.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of steel grades, fabrication processes, and galvanizing requirements.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software.
  • In depth knowledge about the GCC Steel vendors, Knowledge about the Chinese / Far east steel vendors.
  • Familiar with Flat and log products, PPGI/PPGL Coils, Paints, Fasteners, Gratings, PIR/Rockwool Sandwich Panels and accessories.
  • Steel fabrication factory consumables and Maintenance Spares.
  • Steel Price trend analysis and LME (Zinc / Aluminum) Price trend analysis.
  • Familiar with ASTM, BS and JIS standards.
