Reporting to the Senior Captain / Restaurant Supervisor, the Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving beverages to guests in accordance with the restaurant’s service standards. The Bartender ensures that the bar area is stocked, clean, and operates efficiently. The Bartender also plays a key role in maintaining guest satisfaction by providing exceptional service, recommending drink options, and crafting cocktails to the highest standards.BEVERAGE PREPARATION Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, based on the restaurant’s menu. Mix cocktails according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistency in flavor and presentation Experiment with and create new cocktails or seasonal drink specials as directed CUSTOMER SERVICE Greet guests warmly, engage in conversation, and take drink orders. Make drink recommendations based on guest preferences and explain menu items, including daily specials. Ensure timely service and address guest concerns or complaints promptly to ensure satisfaction BAR MAINTENANCE Ensure that all stock is established as per par levels and stored according to Company Food Hygiene Standards Keep the bar area clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times. Restock bar supplies, including liquor, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and ice Monitor the status of inventory and report shortages Ensure that the mise-en-place of the bar i.e., condiments, tray, cocktail napkins etc. are ready for service as per the requirements of the individual outlet and expected business-level requirements before opening Coordinate with Stewarding to ensure equipment and bar area are kept hygienically clean and tidy at all times and sufficient glassware is available for the levels of business.OPERATIONAL Take orders from customers and Waiter/Waitress in a timely, professional and friendly manner Serve alcoholic (if served) & non-alcoholic beverages according to defined standards Arrange bottles and glasses to make an attractive display Ensure that the guest is presented with the correct order and that all drinks are prepared and served as agreed in the standard operating procedures. Undertake opening, closing & cleaning tasks as detailed on checklists Assist with the setup of the bar before service, including preparing garnishes, cutting fruits, and restocking supplies. Perform closing duties, such as cleaning the bar area, washing glassware, and preparing the bar for the next shift Track beverage consumption and report low stock levels to the Bar/ Assistant Restaurant Manager / Restaurant Manager. Assist with regular inventory checks and help identify opportunities to minimize waste or optimize ordering Work closely with the waitstaff and other FOH team members to ensure smooth service, particularly for drink orders from the restaurant floor. Coordinate with the kitchen team for food and drink pairings or special menu promotions Maintain accurate and up-to-date temperature records for all fridge units within the bar whilst on duty. Review/update the notice board and outlet briefing sheets daily to be well-informed of events, reservations, city information, sold-out items, daily specials and any other information that may be relevant to the job. Ensure that care is taken in the handling of all operating equipment to minimize breakage/damage. Conduct beverage training sessions for colleagues as scheduled to enhance the team's performance Performs side duties including folding napkins, cleaning trays, restocking shelves, filling ice bins, cleaning and breaking down service area, using cleaning compounds, and other duties as required COMPLIANCE Adhere to local laws and regulations regarding the serving of alcohol Check the IDs of guests to ensure the legal drinking age is met before serving alcoholic beverages. Ensure health, hygiene, and safety standards are maintained at all times in the bar area Control and rotate stock on a FIFO (first in first out) system. Ensure the checking of expiration dates and that all perishable garnishes are stored and recorded in a designated storage area
